In the last week or so I started getting the “schedule service soon” message on my Polestar 2. Considering I only just bought in March and it also only has about 31K miles, it really doesn’t need any service.
More importantly, there is not much service that is generally needed. Research indicates that all a Polestar 2 Dealer (aka Space) would do is check and possibly top off some fluid levels, check the brakes and perhaps swap the cabin air filter. I can certainly do those things myself!
It’s not that I’m against taking it to a Polestar Space for service, but my closest Space is in Boston, about 100 miles away and by all accounts it can be difficult to get an appointment scheduled with them.
But how to turn off this service message which appears each time you sit in the car? After a bit of searching I did find some steps on Reddit that worked for me.
Sit in the driver seat and close the door. Do not touch the gear selector.
Buckle the seat belt.
Press and hold the Cruise Control minus button on the left side of the steering wheel.
While holding the minus button, put your foot on the brake and move the gear selector to the D position.
Release the brake pedal immediately.
After about 10 seconds, an orange “i” with a circle will appear at the top of the driver display. When it appears, immediately release the minus button.
A message will appear to confirm clearing the reminder. Click OK.
The timing of all this is critical. If it does not work for you, try again and make sure you follow these steps precisely.
These steps worked perfectly for me with my 2021 Polestar 2 Launch Edition running 3.6.4 and now I no longer have that reminder appearing every time I get in the car.
Looks like we got our P2’s around the same time. Mine has 18.5K miles. According to the app, I will need service around the 27K mile mark. I agree that the service won’t be worth the cost, so probably won’t schedule anything unless something comes up over the coming months. When I checked the Boston Space website recently, they were scheduling about 1 month out, which isn’t bad compared to what others are posting about other Spaces. If you have a link to a good air filter, please share. Happy travels, look forward to your future posts.
