Let’s talk about some more specifics about the Polestar 2 in general and why it looks so appealing.

The most important thing to me is that it is a car and not an SUV. Although it looks somewhat like a sedan, it is actually a lift back/hatchback just like my Ioniq. Hatchbacks are great as they are far more practical than having a trunk. My dog loves riding in the back with the seats folded down on my Ioniq and I also prefer that over having her directly in the back seat where she can’t move around as easily.

Why Used?

When new, the Polestar 2 was about $60,000, give or take, depending on the year and packages. But because EVs have such dramatic depreciations in the first years, models that are just a few years old are selling for just a fraction of the original price.

To get a new EV right now, it really only makes sense to lease. Polestar 2 has lease deals of about $600/month, but that is rather high and they still want a down-payment. Worse, all the 2025 models come with the Performance pack, something that reduces range and ride quality. For me at least, I like the idea of a used EV right now.
