This past Saturday, Falmouth held an EV Demo Day at town hall hosted by Falmouth Sustainability and Drive Electric Maine. Despite the overcast and cool conditions, I popped over to check it out.
I got to see some neat cars and talk with other EV owners, which I always enjoy. Here’s a brief overview of the event.
I really liked the Mustang Mach-E. It’s a little larger than I’d like, but its styling and interior are really great. I liked that the frunk is plastic with drain holes, making it suitable for dirty gear or for holding some ice and drinks.
The owner of this Kia EV6 bought it in California and drove it back to Maine. I told him that was either brave or crazy! He had some great stories from that trip. The EV6 is huge inside and had a sporty look that I like. Like the Mach-E, it is a rather large vehicle.
This Cadillac Optiq is another EV that is about the same size as the EV6 and Mach-E, but with an extra-premium feel. The owner of this said he was also considering a Polestar 3, but the lack of any dealers in Maine dissuaded him.
I like the size of the Hyundai Kona, but it looks rather frumpy.
It’s an Ioniq Electric! Unlike the one I owned, which was the low-spec SE, this was the top-spec Premium with the sunroof, leather and navigation system. This vehicle is part of the Falmouth municipal fleet.
The Kia Niro is basically the same size as the Hyundai Kona, although it is perhaps a little less frumpy.
Despite its terrible name, the VW ID.4 is a sharp-looking EV. I love the blue color and this would definitely be a contender if I ever wanted an SUV.
There was also an Ioniq 5 and a Mustang Mach-E police cruiser on display.
Unfortunately because of the weather, there were not many visitors at the show and things started wrapping up by about noon as it looked like rain was starting to move in.
